Miles Evans

Founding Partner

Miles Evans is CEO and a founding partner of Corvalier. With over 25 years of experience in trust and wealth management, he brings calm, clarity, and deep technical judgement to families navigating complex cross-border wealth. 

His career spans senior roles at SG Hambros Bank & Trust and EFG Bank & Trust in The Bahamas, advising ultra-high-net-worth families on long-term structures involving illiquid assets and operating businesses. Alongside his client work, he contributed to international strategy committees in both banks, helping shape how these firms served family wealth across borders. 

British & Bahamian, Miles has lived and worked in the UK, France, and The Bahamas. He holds degrees from the University of St Andrews and UMIST and is a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute with advanced accreditation in Family Wealth Advising. 

At Corvalier, Miles leads with quiet confidence and a steady hand, helping families protect and grow their wealth across generations. He believes real value lies in relationships, and that good advice is shaped by listening, not just expertise. 

James Hoar

Founding Partner

James Hoar is a founding partner at Corvalier. For over 30 years, he has advised international families on how to navigate complexity and make confident decisions across borders. His focus is on multi-jurisdictional families, many with US connections, who require thoughtful, well-structured planning and investment support. 

James brings deep experience from senior roles at EFG Bank & Trust and SG Hambros Bank & Trust in The Bahamas, where he advises global, ultra-high net-worth families, particularly in Latin America, on wealth structures that include personal-use assets, operating businesses, and financial holdings. His leadership extended across private banking, fiduciary services, investment management, and fund administration. 

James holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management and is a full member of STEP. He is also a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute with an Advanced Certificate in Family Wealth Advising. 

Now based in Toronto, James brings a global outlook grounded in practical experience. He has lived and worked in The Bahamas, the UK, Uruguay, Southeast Asia, and Canada. At Corvalier, he combines sharp technical insight with a calm, personal approach that helps families feel secure in the choices they make. 

James F. Stewart

Founding Partner

James Stewart, known to most as Jimmy, is a founding partner at Corvalier. He works closely with ultra-high-net-worth family groups across Latin America, helping them structure and manage wealth with insight, care, and long-term perspective. 

Before founding Corvalier, Jimmy held senior roles at EFG Bank & Trust (Bahamas) and the Royal Bank of Canada, where he focused on international wealth management for clients across the region. His approach is shaped by a strong technical foundation, broad commercial experience, and deep cultural understanding. 

Jimmy holds a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from Universidad de la República in Uruguay, a Master of Science from the University of Reading, and recently completed the OPM (54) programme at Harvard Business School. He is a member of STEP and has served on the board of the Family Firm Institute, as well as several private companies across Latin America. 

Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Jimmy is based in Miami with his wife and two children. He brings grounded advice, fluent cross-border thinking, and a human touch to everything he does at Corvalier. 

John H. Jephson

Founding Partner

John Jephson is a founding partner at Corvalier. He advises ultra-high-net-worth families, particularly in Latin America and beyond, on how to structure and preserve wealth across generations and borders. 

John’s career includes senior roles at SG Hambros Bank & Trust in The Bahamas and JPMorgan in New York, where he developed bespoke strategies for families with complex international lives. His advice is shaped by decades of cross-border experience and a deep understanding of the pressures facing global families today. 

He holds a BA in International Relations from Vassar College, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and recently completed the Owner/President Management Program (OPM 53) at Harvard Business School. He also serves on the boards of several privately owned companies. 

A dual US and French citizen, John is fluent in English, French, and Spanish. He brings a multicultural mindset to his work combining clear thinking with a highly personal, relationship-led approach. John lives in Boston with his wife, their two sons, and their dog, Happy. 

Beltran Domecq

Senior Wealth Advisor

For over two decades, he has worked closely with ultra-high-net-worth families across Latin America, helping them navigate complex tax and structuring questions with clarity and foresight. 

With a focus on cross-border planning, Beltran brings strength in intergenerational wealth transfer, combining technical skill with a strong personal understanding of the families he advises. His experience spans senior advisory roles at Citi Trust, Santander Private Bank, and J.P. Morgan Private Bank, where he developed a nuanced approach to multi-jurisdictional wealth management. 

Beltran began his career in private practice, working in the M&A teams at Allen & Overy LLP and Stephenson Harwood LLP. He holds a law degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and earned his LLM in International Commercial Law with honours from the University of Kent. He is a full member of STEP. 

Fluent in English and Spanish, Beltran’s advice is always grounded, thoughtful, and tailored. He brings a legal mind and a personal touch to each relationship helping families make confident decisions in an increasingly complex world. 

Ana María Correa Echeverri

Senior Wealth Advisor

A Colombian attorney with deep regional insight and international experience, Ana works closely with ultra-high-net-worth families to design thoughtful, lasting wealth strategies rooted in trust, governance, and clarity. 

Ana began her career in private practice, advising on estate planning structures, family constitutions, and corporate governance frameworks. Her legal grounding, shaped by roles at top-tier Colombian firms, developed into a broader perspective as she moved into senior advisory positions. 

As Head of Wealth Planning at BTG Pactual Colombia, she focused on long-term structuring for families navigating complexity across borders. She later led a single-family office in Medellín, aligning governance with the values and vision of the family. Ana also served for nearly six years as Chair of the Colombia Chapter of STEP, helping to shape industry dialogue and standards across the region. 

She holds a law degree from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and an LLM in International Taxation from IE Law School in Spain. 

Now based in Miami with her husband and son, Ana brings warmth, precision, and sound judgement to her relationships, supporting families in shaping their legacy with confidence and care.
